ICO File Format For Websites.

You notice the icon in the tab with the title? Yeah, we're going to be making that in the process shown in the images below.

ICO File formats are images for icons in computers. Developed by microsoft used by all. We mainly see the icons when using our computers everyday. Word, paint, photoshop and illustrator are all classic examples of programs that we use with icons! However for the purpose of this I will be using the ICO file for web.

You will need download this plugin for the link here Download

For my website I wanted to use my brand logo as the icon this meant installing a plugin into photoshop show below:

First of all we need to find the directory were photoshop is located! Normally C://Adobe.
After this we need to fine the place where we drop the downloaded file format into! This folder is called 'Plugins' Use a drag and drop method and place it in the folder shown below.

Once all of this has been done you should see the icon format inside the folder like so. You're now ready to open Adobe Photoshop. Go ahead and open PS up.

Once Photoshop is open you're going to want to create a file with the dimensions shown below. This file will house your icon so make sure you can resize the icon without pixelation happening! Normally use your vector logo or just open the raw Ai file into photoshop. Hold down ctrl and t and resize to fit the file we just have created.

One you have finished creating your icon go ahead and check that you're okay with how the ICO looks as this will be one of the key features for a person first visiting your site. Go ahead and scroll through the file types until you see the ICO format in the list and hit save. You're all done!
